Jon L. Jacobi

Hey everyone! Jon here, and I’m excited to share my thoughts on the 70mai 4K A810 dash cam. I’ve had the chance to put this device through its paces, and let me tell you, it’s an impressive piece of tech for a very reasonable price.

First Impressions

The 70mai 4K A810 dash cam is priced at $179, which is a steal for a dual-channel (front and rear) setup. It’s packed with features you’d expect from higher-end models, and some you might not even need. But the real standout here is the front camera’s 2160p captures, which are absolutely fantastic in all lighting conditions. The rear camera, though 1080p, doesn’t quite match up due to some processing issues, but more on that later.

Features Galore

Let’s dive into what this dash cam offers:- GPS, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth: These are pretty much standard in modern dash cams, but it’s great to see them here at this price point.

features galore.png__PID:286b2bfe-5ac5-481c-8125-7b7b234624dd

33-inch IPS Display: The 640×360 resolution is colorful and crisp, making it easy to navigate settings and view footage.

Front Camera: This has a 150-degree field of view (FOV) and captures stunning 3840×2160 (4K UHD) video using a Sony Starvis IMX678 sensor.

Rear Camera: With a 130-degree FOV, it records 1080p video using an SC200AI sensor. The captures are decent but lack the punch of the front camera’s output.

View Details

The A810 comes with an auxiliary USB power source and a Type-A to Type-C USB cable. There’s also a 16-foot cable to connect the front and rear cameras, though the connectors are quite unique, so take good care of it. Thankfully, 70mai offers replacements for just $8 in shipping. Both cameras attach to your car windows with semi-permanent sticky mounts. The front camera is detachable and vertically adjustable, while the rear camera is fixed. Installation is straightforward, but make sure you align the front camera properly to get the best results.

Using the A810

The front camera has a power button on the left, four navigation buttons beneath the display, and ports for power, the rear camera, and a micro SD card on the right. The A810 also supports driver aids like lane-departure and forward-collision warnings. Personally, I find these alerts more distracting than helpful, but they might be useful for some drivers. The 70mai app, available for all the company’s cameras, lets you view live footage, access saved videos, and adjust settings. It’s user-friendly and a nice addition to the overall package.

Capturing Action

The front camera’s performance is where the A810 truly shines. The video quality is excellent, with rich colors and superb detail. It handles varying lighting conditions beautifully, adjusting quickly when entering or exiting tunnels. This makes it one of the best front cameras I’ve seen, even outperforming pricier models like the Cobra SC 400D.

The rear camera, however, could use some work. The detail is there, but the default settings result in overexposed images with weak contrast. A bit of post-processing can improve these captures significantly, but it’s something 70mai should address in future updates.

Storage and Convenience

One thing I appreciate is how the A810 separates front and rear videos into their own folders. This makes it much easier to find specific recordings. The 4K front captures use about 225MB per minute, while the 1080p rear captures require around 60MB per minute. With a maximum micro SD card capacity of 256GB, you can get about 15 hours of recording time.

Final Thoughts

The 70mai 4K A810 dash cam has really impressed me. The front camera’s video quality is top-notch, and the GPS and phone connectivity add a lot of value. While the rear camera’s processing could be better, it’s still a great deal for a dual-channel 4K dash cam. If you’re in the market for a new dash cam, the A810 is definitely worth considering.
