70mai Rearview Dash Cam S500
The procedure for this model is the same as those for others available on the market:
1. Set the connector near the rearview mirror and route the power cable inside the vehicle. This device comes with a standard cigarette lighter plug power supply cable and supports the optional 70mai parking surveillance cable (Model number: 70mai Hardwire Kit UP02) as the power source.
2. It is recommended that the vehicle rear camera be installed above the license plate frame. Ensure that the reverse gear detection cable is properly connected to the reverse light signal cable of the vehicle when installing the rear camera. Set up the signal cable and route the connector near the internal rearview mirror of the vehicle.
3. Bind the device to the vehicle's built-in internal rearview mirror, and then connect the power cable and signal cable of the rear camera.
4. Turn on the device by starting the vehicle. After reading the beginner's guide, observe the real-time screen display. In addition to the pitch angle of the front camera and the rear camera, you can also make adjustments to the angle and directions of the device. Using the touch screen, you can adjust the position of the mirror image to obtain the best view.
Note! Installation of the rearview mirror involves the disassembly of the car If you are not experienced with hands-on installation, please seek assistance from a professional at an automotive repair and maintenance store to prevent potential damage to your vehicle.
The built-in front camera of this rearview mirror can be pulled to the left (the direction of pulling described here is under the condition that the mirror is facing you), so as to resolve the issue of conflicting position with the original vehicle's interior rearview mirror. In addition, the orientation of the built-in front camera can be manually adjusted for the best recording view in your vehicle.
No, it is not necessary. This rearview mirror is bound to the original interior rearview mirror of the vehicle.
Note: The official installation of this rearview mirror does not support the use of an alternative bracket after removing the original interior rearview mirror of the vehicle. If the original interior rearview mirror bracket is loose, and the rearview mirror often droops when installed in the bundle mounting method, you may opt for a third-party interior rearview mirror replacement bracket that is suitable for your vehicle. You may then remove the interior rearview mirror before installing this rearview mirror.
If you have a third-party interior rearview mirror replacement bracket that fits your vehicle, you may replace the interior rearview mirror with this model after removing it from the vehicle. Apart from providing a live feed from the rear camera, this device can also function as an optical interior rearview mirror when the screen is turned off.
In such situations, we do not recommend displaying the real-time rear view on the mirror screen. Instead, you may press the power button to put the device in standby mode and observe the rear of the vehicle through the optical mirror. It is also advisable to clean the rear camera promptly. (we recommend using wet wipes to gently wipe the dirt off, then dry it with lens wipes/a soft cloth/soft tissue paper).
The best position for installing the rear camera of the rearview mirror is above the license plate frame at the rear of the vehicle, near the license plate light, as centralized as possible. We do not recommend installing the rear camera inside the rear windshield, as the rear view may be blocked by dirt on the lens such as mud, dust, etc. or by dark-colored screen protectors, which will seriously affect the operation of the camera.
Note: The data cable of the rear camera can usually be inserted into the vehicle through a gap in the vehicle's body, such as a screw hole. For optimal results, it is crucial to have this installation performed by a professional specializing in automobile maintenance for optimal results.
The standard rear camera of this rearview mirror possesses an IPX7 level of waterproof capability. To prevent water ingress damage, avoid using a high-pressure water jet directly on the camera for extended periods. The rear camera provides effective protection against rainstorms and road splashes during driving, allowing worry-free usage on rainy days.
This rearview mirror has a fully laminated touch screen and supports multi-touch. You can tap the touch screen directly with your finger and complete the operations according to the interface displayed on the screen. Except for the power button, this model does not provide other physical buttons.
In balancing functional requirements, cost, and power consumption, the rearview mirror differs from mainstream smartphones in the following aspects:
- The master control chip lacks a powerful graphics processing unit (GPU) found in mainstream smartphones. Consequently, it is unable to accelerate touch screen animations in the same manner as mobile phones.
- The mirror screen does not support ultra-high refresh rates.
- The firmware system is embedded in the dash cam as well.
Therefore, the touch screen experience offered by the rearview mirror is not as smooth as mainstream smartphones with iOS/Android systems that are equipped with powerful GPUs, high refresh rate screens, and specially optimized touch screen feedback animations.
This rearview mirror supports voice control using fixed command words.- When the language setting on the device side is Traditional Chinese, commands can be given in Mandarin Chinese.
Available commands:
- When the language on the device side is set to another language, commands can be given in English.
Available commands:
- take photo (to take a photo)
- Lock the video (initiate the recording of an emergency video)
- Turn on the screen (mirror screen lights up and displays content)
- Turn off the screen (mirror screen goes off and no content is displayed)
- show front camera (the screen display mode is switched to display the live feed from the built-in front camera in single-channel display mode)
- show rear camera (the screen display mode is switched to display the live feed from the rear camera in single-channel display mode)
A voice control interface is embedded in the firmware of this rearview mirror model, which supports fixed command words. Since the voice control engine is designed to accommodate fixed command words, an increased number of command words increases the risk of false activation and recognition errors. Therefore, it is important to offer the most commonly used shortcut operational functions in order to ensure the effectiveness of voice recognition.
Possible reasons include:
1. Voice control has not been activated. There is a voice control function toggle in the settings section. Turn it on and then try to use the voice control function.
2. Voice control is available only when the device is switched on for recording (normal continuous video/emergency video) or when it is switched on to display only the real-time feed (no memory card inserted or the memory card cannot be used), and it is not connected to a mobile phone. If the device is undergoing an OTA upgrade, in Parking Surveillance Mode, or switched off, it cannot respond to voice control commands.
As long as the rearview mirror is properly installed, it will automatically shift into Reverse Assist mode when the vehicle is shifted into reverse gear.
The default setting of the guide lines in the real-time screen in Reverse Assist Mode is adapted to popular domestic passenger car models. You may drive your vehicle to a familiar parking space with marked lines, then tap the Adjust button on the screen in Reverse Assist Mode to begin guide line adjustment. Drag the guide line to adjust its height and width, and slowly back up into the parking space to see if the guide line is suitable for your vehicle. You may adjust the guide line repeatedly until you obtain the most suitable setting.
This rearview mirror model uses a built-in power supply with a mega capacity, but its capacity is limited and serves to safeguard video footage undergoing recording from being damaged in the event of an accidental power outage. This device does not support usage without external power supply.
This rearview mirror has a supercapacitor built-in power supply, which can support the device when the external power supply is disconnected. The recorded content of the video clips can be saved on the card to prevent damage.
Compared to lithium-ion batteries, supercapacitors have greater resistance to extreme temperature environments and a longer expected service life.
The advantages of this rearview mirror compared to the optical interior rearview mirror that comes with the car include:
1. The rearview mirror has a wide range of vision, and its front and rear camera can provide good coverage of all three lanes of traffic without being obscured by objects in the car.
2.With the rear camera installed outside the vehicle, the images will be clear and the effects of rain and mud on the rear windshield will be eliminated.
3.It automatically adapts to the ambient light for optimized imaging, with the brightness of the mirror screen automatically adjusted according to the image on the screen scene. This allows for excellent viewing and moderate brightness imaging in strong sunny weather, cloudy and rainy days, and at night. This is extremely favorable for viewing the rear of the vehicle.
4.Comes with dual-channel recording dash cam and reverse assist function;
5.The optical mirror is wide and provides excellent reflectivity, so even if you choose to turn off the mirror screen and put it to hibernation mode, you can still get a better viewing angle than the original interior rearview mirror that comes with the car.
No. The rearview mirror has a wide range of vision, with both the front and rear cameras covering all three lanes of traffic well. They are not obstructed by any objects inside the car, thus providing a clear advantage over the original internal rearview mirrors that come with the car.
When the device is turned off or after the screen is off, wipe it using a dry wipe or a soft fabric such as a lens cloth or screen cleaning cloth. Do not use abrasive sandpaper, steel wire balls, hard sponges, brushes and other harsh cleaning tools or any kind of organic solvents, including any concentration of alcohol, to wipe the lens.
As a screen device installed in the center of the front windshield above the driver's cabin, this rearview mirror takes into account the difference between left-hand drive and right-hand drive cars. You may select either left-hand drive or right-hand drive mode during the beginner guidance process when the device is turned on for the first time after installation. Alternatively, you may change this setting in the 'Settings - System Settings - Mirror Mode' option on the device. Operating interface elements on the device will be rearranged based on your settings to better match left-hand drive/right-hand drive needs.
This model of rearview mirror supports the following display modes to display the real-time feed captured by the camera on the screen:
1. In Single Display Mode, the feed from the rear camera or the built-in front camera can be displayed in full screen (supports switching between rear/front camera).
2. In left/right split-screen display mode, the live feed from the rear camera or the built-in front camera can be displayed on the left side of the mirror screen respectively (supports left/right screen swapping).
3. In picture-in-picture display mode, the live screen of one camera is displayed on the main screen and the sub-screen respectively (the main screen and the sub-screen can be switched to the rear/front camera display).
To switch between the above display modes, you may tap on the touch screen to bring up the toolbar, which provides a command icon for switching between display modes, indicating the next available display mode that can be switched to by tapping on the command icon.
When the above toolbar appears, you may tap the command icon on the screen to adjust the image from the rear/front camera in the current display mode.
This model of rearview mirror can display the live camera feed with 2592 x 1944 resolution (4:3 original ratio) for the front camera, while that of the rear camera can be scaled to 1920 × 1080 resolution (16:9 original ratio) to fit the mirror display area.
As the original image is displayed, it is horizontally adapted and vertically cropped to fit the mirror screen or the picture-in-picture sub-screen. In single-display mode and picture-in-picture display mode, you can adjust the vertical cropping position of the picture by scrolling up and down. In split-screen display mode, both the front and rear real-time images are displayed with adaptive frame width (with slight vertical cropping).
The rearview mirror determines ambient brightness based on real-time image brightness captured by the built-in front camera and adjusts the screen brightness accordingly. Due to the short delay it takes for this logic to execute (about 1 second), the automatic brightness adjustment action may lag slightly behind changes in external brightness.
The rearview mirror serves primarily as a replacement for the vehicle's original optical rearview mirror, allowing the driver to see what's behind the vehicle in real time. It is therefore extremely important to have a display that performs in real-time. In contrast to smartphone screens, which employ animated transitions to adjust the brightness, the screen's brightness adjusts directly after the brightness outside the car changes. This ensures that the mirror screen's brightness quickly matches the environmental brightness, providing the driver with a smooth viewing experience as soon as possible.
This model of rearview mirror is primarily designed for displaying real-time footage. Functions such as video recording, audio recording, and taking photos that require the insertion of a storage card are additional features.
The rearview mirror function can be used without inserting a storage card. Alternatively, you can insert a memory card, and the dash cam will automatically start recording when the device is powered on.
In order to quickly return to the real-time image display mode when the rearview mirror is not showing real-time footage, such as when you are in the settings or album, you may click on the 'Home' button on the leftmost side of the screen.
Note: In 'left-hand drive mode,' the 'Home' button will be displayed on the left side, and in 'right-hand drive mode,' it will be displayed on the right.
This model of rearview mirror has been developed based on the mainstream specifications for dash cams. To ensure real-time mirror image quality, the built-in front camera uses a 2592 x 1944 resolution and does not support 1080P low-resolution. Under these settings, the master control's encoding capacity is not capable of supporting 60 fps frame rate.
The rear camera does not offer 60 fps frame rate option as the recording parameters are fixed at 1080P 25 fps.
The built-in front camera on this model of rearview mirror has a fixed resolution of 2592 x 1944 and no option for low-resolution 1080P, so resolution settings are not necessary.
As for the rear camera, its recording parameters are hardware-based and fixed at 1080P 25 fps, without other resolution/frame rate options.
The built-in front camera of this rearview mirror supports HDR with a resolution of 2592 x 1944. Meanwhile, the rear camera supports 1080P HDR.
Both the front and rear cameras of this dash cam have hardware-level HDR capability, which greatly enhances the image quality in situations with strong contrast between light and dark areas.
- Entering and exiting tunnels or underground garages during the daytime on a sunny day
-Headlights shining directly on the license plate of the vehicle at night
- Shadow imaging of objects on the road in areas exposed to strong sunlight.
Due to its hardware-level HDR capability, this model of rearview mirror offers 25 fps, which is optimized to counteract the flicker effect of 50 Hz AC lighting in some countries/regions. The anti-flicker effect works best at 25 fps. Furthermore, the perceived smoothness and motion blur of the video are not solely determined by the frame rate but also by comprehensive tuning. Therefore, to ensure overall image quality and smoothness of the video, rather than aiming for frame rate parameters, device tuning aims to ensure overall image quality and smoothness of the video. From this perspective, 30 fps is not actually better than 25 fps for this device.
Note:- When the front camera is adjusted to counteract the flicker effect of 60 Hz AC lighting, it will record at 30 fps.
- When adjusted to counteract the flicker effect of 55 Hz AC lighting, the front camera records at 27.5 fps, effectively achieving 28 fps.
The rearview mirror can record emergency videos when a collision is detected. The recording lasts for 30 seconds after the collision-triggering event. Emergency video is individually erased on a loop. You may also initiate the recording of an emergency video by using the voice command 'I want to take a video'.
This rearview mirror supports dual-channel recording when the rear camera is connected. The built-in front camera and the external rear camera will record the emergency video when the function is triggered.
This rearview mirror is equipped with a super capacitor as a backup power supply. In the event of an accidental power failure, the super capacitor's power is sufficient to support the device and save the video files. This prevents them from being damaged or corrupted.
While the rearview mirror is displaying real-time images, tapping the screen will bring up the toolbar. You can access the album's main page by tapping the 'Album' icon on the toolbar. You can then tap on any directory icon to access the corresponding album's subdirectory main page. There are two main areas on these main pages: a thumbnail display area and a playback screen area, which displays image records for the most recent date. If you click on a thumbnail in the playback area, you can play the corresponding video segment or photo, and if you click on the date, you can view other recordings on the memory card from different dates.
Zooming in during playback of videos and photos is not available on this model of rearview mirror.
On this model of rearview mirror, you can play videos at 2X/4X/8X speeds by clicking the control buttons on the toolbar in the playback area.
Watermarks applied to video recordings made by this device include date, time, and the 70mai brand logo.- However, the date and timestamp cannot be turned off.- The 70mai logo watermark on the recording can be turned off. Simply select the “settings” tab on the device or on your mobile phone to turn off the watermark.
Note: Watermarks are not displayed on the mirror screen's real-time image of the front camera. Watermarks are only visible in recorded videos and photo images saved on the memory card.
Watermarks on video files cannot be changed once they have been recorded.
In the event that the time watermark on your device is incorrect, you can change the system time in settings. In the 70mai app, select the 'System Settings' group under the 'Device Settings' module to access the device's hotspot. You can then select the 'System Time' setting to synchronize your mobile phone's time with the rearview mirror. On subsequent video recordings, the correct time watermark will appear after the system time of the rearview mirror has been corrected.
The design of this rearview mirror is intended to address such situations, and it is unlikely that the problem of failure to power on due to external power disconnection during OTA will occur. In the event that the device experiences an unexpected power failure or the OTA upgrade package is corrupted during the upgrade process, it will cause the device to crash. When that happens, connect the external power supply and long press the power button for 15 seconds to force the dash cam to restart, after which you can attempt to push the OTA upgrade package again and proceed with the upgrade.
This rearview mirror adopts TF card as the storage medium. It supports TF cards of 32-128 GB capacity, with Class10/U1 or higher read/write speed level.
With this rearview mirror, a 32 GB memory card will enable 2 to 3 hours of recording duration before the first video gets erased. (The exact recording duration may vary depending on specific road conditions. If there are a large number of tree canopies and other detail-rich scenery, the video file size will be slightly larger compared to videos of general road scenes). This is perfectly suited to meet the needs of most car owners for roadside evidential photography and landscape shots.
If you need more storage, you may purchase memory cards with 64/128 GB storage. Compared to 32 GB memory card, the available continuous recording duration and capacity of these cards is doubled or many times more.
Possible reason 1: You may have used a memory card with a storage capacity of 32 GB.
To address issues arising from reason 1, With a 32 GB memory card, there will be 2 to 3 hours of continuous recording before the first video gets erased. (The exact recording duration may vary depending on specific road conditions. If there are a large number of tree canopies and other detail-rich scenery, the video file size will be slightly larger compared to videos of general road scenes). If you need the whole video data, please connect the data cable to the dash cam to connect it to the computer after about 2 hours of continuous video recording. Remove and replace the full TF Card, and insert the TF card into the card reader of your computer to export the video file for backup or download it to the local album.
Possible reason 2: The emergency videos take up too much space.
To address issues arising from reason 2, Emergency videos are erased separately. The dash cam is designed to continuously occupy a fixed percentage of the TF card memory if there are too many emergency videos or parking surveillance videos recorded. Download your desired emergency video clips to your mobile phone or connect your computer to export and back them up from the TF cards. Then, you may continue using the dash cam after deleting all the emergency videos or parking surveillance videos from the dash cam.
(Note: This device supports dual-channel recording, with a front camera with a high resolution of up to 5 million pixels. Thus, it can generate quite a significant amount of video data during recording. For maximum continuous recording duration, it is recommended that TF cards with high capacities be used and audio recording be disabled.)
Adjust the speaker volume level in device settings, which can be set to high/medium/low and off according to your preferences.
You can mute the dash cam's power-on and power-off music in the settings menu.
This model of rearview mirror does not support voice prompts. On the device, audio signals accompanied by on-screen text prompts are used to notify users.
Parking security is one of the supported features of this device, which functions even after the vehicle is turned off. Once the vehicle's engine is turned off, the dash cam will enter the parking security mode according to the settings. You can select any or all of these parking security features individually or simultaneously for comprehensive protection of your vehicle when in parking security mode:
1. Parking Surveillance Triggered by Collision Detection: When the vehicle engine is switched off, the dash cam is in standby mode and video recording will be paused. However, when the built-in G-sensor detects an abnormal vibration of the car (which usually happens when the car is involved in a collision), it triggers the recording of a 30-second-long parking surveillance video and stores it in the parking surveillance video folder of the device album.
2. Time-lapse photography: After enabling the time-lapse photography function, the dash cam will continuously capture images at a sampling frequency of 1 fps after the vehicle engine is switched off, then synthesizes them into a 30-fps video file, i.e. time-lapse video and stores them in the time-lapse video folder in the device's photo album. Time-lapse photography allows for continuous recording of the dash cam's field of view and the recorded images can be replayed 30 times faster than real time. In the case of an accident or unusual event, it can better record the entire process, making for effective evidence.
In parking security mode, the device only responds to the following button operations:
1. Long-press the power button for more than 3 seconds to trigger a shutdown
2. Force the dash cam to restart by long-pressing the power button for more than 15 seconds.(Note: If 'auto power off with continuous inactivity' is not set, please shut the dash cam down using the previous operation (to avoid draining the vehicle's battery).
Note: While in parking security mode, you can record continuous videos in normal recording mode by starting the vehicle. The rearview mirror only responds to the ACC ON signal in parking security mode. In order to send the ACC ON signal to the device, simply start the vehicle.
This occurs when the parking surveillance cable cannot be detected by the device. In such a situation, please proceed with the following troubleshooting:
1. Check whether the parking surveillance cable of the device has been installed and connected correctly. If you have no experience or knowledge about installation, hands-on ability, it is recommended that you visit an automotive repair and maintenance store for professional installation services. For niche models, you are recommended to first contact the 4S dealership store to obtain the vehicle fuse box circuit definition information for installation reference.
2. Check whether the parking surveillance cable, the fuse box, and the rearview mirror are connected properly.
The parking surveillance cable is an accessory of the dash cam/rearview mirror for parking security. It is used for the following functions:
- Drawing power from the battery of the vehicle in order to maintain the constant power supply to the dash cam/rearview mirror after the vehicle engine has been switched off. This allows for the functions of normal operation of parking surveillance and time-lapse photography.
- To prevent the battery from being drained and the car from malfunctioning, the cable cuts off the power supply to the device when the voltage of the battery has decreased to a preset threshold.
This rearview mirror model only supports 70mai parking surveillance cable. You may choose from the following models of 70mai parking surveillance cable that is compatible with this rearview mirror:
- 70mai Hardwire Kit UP02. This model of hardwire kit does not support 4G network connection, so it will not be able to notify you instantly when the recording of parking surveillance video is triggered. Instead, it will remind you to access the recorded parking surveillance video of the rearview mirror in the device album next time you start your vehicle.
This is due to the incorrect wiring of the parking surveillance cable on the vehicle fuse box. This may result in failure to enter parking surveillance mode correctly after the vehicle engine is turned off. In this situation, it is recommended that you consult a 4S dealership or a professional workshop to make sure the circuit cable is not disconnected from the power supply after the engine is turned off.
(Note: Randomly altering the car circuit may lead to serious consequences such as battery failure or even spontaneous combustion of vehicle. Hence, you need to resolve issues with the parking surveillance cable installation and wiring with the help of professionals.)
This issue may occur due to the following reasons:
1. Parking surveillance video is not being recorded and collision detection is not triggered.
2. This may be because the sensitivity of collision detection triggering and parking surveillance has been set to a low level in the device settings. Try to set a higher sensitivity (For models with better chassis damping effect, it is recommended to set a higher sensitivity).
3. When the temperature of the vehicle cockpit becomes too high during hot weather conditions, the device will automatically shuts down. Hence, it will not be able to respond to a collision event to trigger the parking surveillance video after the shutdown. To avoid this problem, you may apply a heat shield film to the windshield screen of your vehicle, and try to avoid parking the vehicle under direct sunlight for long periods of time during the hot season.
4. The power reserve of the car battery is low, causing the battery protection function of the parking surveillance cable to be triggered, thus cutting off the power of the device. You can solve this problem by analyzing the battery condition of your vehicle. If the battery has been used for a long time, please replace it in time. This will trigger the battery protection function of the parking surveillance cable soon after the vehicle is turned off. During such occurrences, you should start the vehicle and drive/let it be idled for more than 30 minutes to ensure that the battery is fully charged. Then, turn off the engine to use the parking surveillance.
5. This is due to incorrect wiring of the parking surveillance cable on the vehicle fuse box. This can cause the dash cam power supply to be cut off some time after the vehicle is turned off, causing the device to shut down. In this situation, it is recommended that you consult a 4S dealership or a professional workshop to make sure the circuit cable is not disconnected from the power supply after the engine is turned off.(Note: Randomly altering the car circuit may lead to serious consequences such as battery failure or even spontaneous combustion of vehicle. Hence, you need to resolve issues with the parking surveillance cable installation and wiring with the help of professionals.)
6. Please note that despite setting the dash cam with the highest collision detection sensitivity, it is possible that the parking surveillance video will not be triggered for some types of collisions, such as: Food delivery drivers riding motorized scooters passing by at low speeds and brushing against parked vehicles with the food container. G-sensors are more sensitive to vibrations caused by heavy objects. If a passing pedestrian or non-motorized vehicle causes damage to a parked vehicle, there is a probability that the parking surveillance recording function will not be triggered if the movement is relatively light or minor.
You may apply any of the following solutions to solve the problem:
1. Turn down the sensitivity setting for collision detection triggering parking surveillance.
2. Configure the collision response time of parking surveillance to 5 minutes after the vehicle has been powered off.
This issue may occur due to the following reasons:
1. The power reserve of the car battery is low, causing the battery protection function of the parking surveillance cable to be triggered, thus cutting off the power of the rearview mirror. To address this situation, drive the vehicle/let it be idle for more than 30 minutes to fully charge the battery. Then, turn off the engine and continue using the time-lapse photography feature; if the battery is aging, please replace it in time.
2. The device may shut down automatically due to excessively high temperatures in order to protect the device. In such situations, place a heat insulation film on the glass and try to avoid parking the car in direct sunlight for a long time in the hot season.
3. If a collision triggers the recording of a parking surveillance video, it will cause the time-lapse photography to be interrupted. After the recording is completed, the time-lapse photography will resume and be stored as a new segment.
Parking surveillance mode supports dual-channel recording, while time-lapse photography video only supports recording with the built-in front camera.
When the parking surveillance function is activated, a 30-second recording is initiated after the vehicle is turned off and a collision is detected. As long as the time-lapse photography function is activated, time-lapse videos will be recorded even after the vehicle is turned off. Neither parking surveillance nor time-lapse photography are possible without a memory card inserted. The recorded videos will not be stored on the device without a memory card.
Note: When correctly installed and connected to the official 70mai parking surveillance cable, this rearview mirror allows you to toggle on/off parking surveillance and time-lapse photography functions in the settings module, regardless of whether a memory card has been inserted. However, if time-lapse photography or parking surveillance are enabled, and the vehicle is turned off without a memory card, the device will shut down instead of entering parking surveillance mode or time-lapse photography.
With its Wi-Fi hotspot functionality, this rearview mirror is able to connect to a smartphone running the 70mai app.Once connected, you may perform the following functions:
- View the live feed from the front and rear cameras on your smartphone- Visit the device's album to browse and download previous recordings and photos
- View and modify the device settings in the smartphone app
- Verify the current firmware version of the device, check for any available updates, and push firmware OTA upgrade packages to the device
- Retrieve device logs for analysis by customer support staff
As soon as you connect your smartphone to the 70mai APP with this rearview mirror, you will be able to view the live feed of the device in real time as the system time will be synchronized with the time on your smartphone.
To manually synchronize the system time of your mobile phone with that of your device, find the 'System Settings' sub-section in the Device Settings section of your phone, and click on the 'System Time' setting item.
In the above example, synchronization of the device's system time with the smartphone's system time is only performed if the difference in system time between the device and the smartphone exceeds 10 seconds. In the case of time differences of less than or equal to 10 seconds, the software system considers it within a reasonable margin of error and will not perform synchronization.
This is because the Wi-Fi signal of the device is affected by various sources of interference. You can download the video to the local album with the APP to solve this problem.
Note: It is recommended to set the video recording duration to 1 minute (the original segmented length of the video file), which allows for faster downloading.
This is due to the high compression coding used in the video. It can occur if the phone does not support H.265 (HEVC) decoding function. Try replaying videos on a newer phone model. This should not be an issue with the entry-level Android phones or Android devices with better performance launched in 2018, iPhone 7 or newer iOS devices.
After the video/photos and other image files have been downloaded from the device to the mobile APP, they are all stored in the '70mai' album in the system album of the mobile phone. You may access and manage these image files in the system album or in the local album of the 70mai APP.
This is because the car runs on normal power, with the cigarette lighter plug supplying power to the rearview mirror and to the dash cam when the function of 'auto power off with continuous inactivity' is disabled. Hence, the rearview mirror does not switch off.
Enable the 'auto power off with continuous inactivity' function and set an appropriate time for 'auto power off with continuous inactivity'.
Note: After enabling the function of 'auto power off with continuous inactivity' for a vehicle that is normally powered, you will need to manually press the power button to turn on the rearview mirror the next time you use it.
This rearview mirror requires a power supply with 5V/2A input, and it is recommended to use official 70mai power supply accessories. If you prefer using a third-party power supply accessory, please make sure to opt for an accessory with power supply specifications that meet the requirements and comply with national safety regulations.
There is a power requirement of 5V/2A for this rearview mirror model. A low voltage power input will cause the startup screen on the device to flicker.
The following are some of the most common causes of this problem:• Using the built-in data USB port of the vehicle to power the rearview mirror (These data interfaces allow external storage devices to be connected to the vehicle system so that it can store media or provide storage space. However, they do not have power supply stability)• Connecting the rearview mirror to the vehicle 's fuse box with a third-party adapter cable of inferior quality.
To avoid the above-mentioned problems, please make sure to power the device using the cigarette lighter plug and power cable, or the 70mai parking surveillance cable (70mai Hardwire Kit UP02).

Online GuideUpdate Dash Cam Firmware with the 70mai App
To update firmware, pair your dash cam with the 70mai App. The App will automatically check for the latest firmware version, and will display a red dot when an update is available. Please follow the video instruction below to complete the update. If you encounter any problems, reach out to us at help@70mai.com.
70mai Dash Cam A810
The vehicle uses cigarette lighter socket to supply power to the Dash Cam, and 'Auto-off when no movement' is not turned on.
You can turn on the 'Auto-off when no movement' function and set a suitable 'Auto-off when no movement' time.
Note: After the vehicle is auto-off when no movement, you need to manually press the power button to turn on the Dash Cam when you start the vehicle next time.
This model of Dash Cam requires 5V/2A power input, please try to use the official 70mai power supply accessories.
If third-party power supply accessories are to be used, please make sure to use accessories that meet the power supply specifications and comply with national safety regulations.
The possible reasons are as follows:
1. This Dash Cam has a self-protection function. When the temperature is detected to be too high, it will not respond to the power-on action, please use it after the temperature is normal.
2. Please check whether the vehicle charger and power cord are abnormal.
3. After the vehicle is auto-off when no movement, you need to manually press the power button to turn on the Dash Cam when you start the vehicle next time.
Because the Dash Cam is currently using 'low compression' encoding format. Please change the encoding format to 'high compression' encoding in the Dash Cam settings screen, and you will see the 60fps option afterwards.
Please check whether the mobile phone supports HEVC decoding, if not, the mobile phone will not be able to play back the high compression encoding Dash Cam video normally.
The phone in the last four years does not have any problem, and the 70mai App will automatically detect whether the phone supports HEVC decoding and provide setting suggestions.
Note: 4K resolution does not support 60 fps in either high or low compression.
The principle of HDR realization determines that under the setting of HDR+30fps, the frame encoding calculation is equivalent to 60fps;
If HDR and 60fps are turned on at the same time, the main control encoding processing capacity of mainstream Dash Cam is insufficient, therefore the two cannot be turned on concurrently.
This model of Dash Cam has hardware-level HDR capability, which can greatly optimize the imaging effect of the following scenes with strong contrast between light and dark:
- Access to tunnels and underground garages during the sunny day;
- Direct headlights on license plates at night;
- Shadow imaging of road objects in areas with strong sunlight.
As a video recording device, the resolution is not the only factor that determines the image quality.
The hardware base of this model Dash Cam is excellent, the image quality is well-tuned, even if set to 1080P resolution, under the support of powerful master control, starlight night vision level advanced sensor, hardware-level HDR capability, large aperture high-quality lens, the detail resolution capability is far beyond the mainstream 1080P car Dash Cam products, color fidelity and complex light scene imaging is even more superior, while the file volume is effectively controlled compared to 4K settings, allowing longer recording time using the same capacity memory card before cyclic erasing.
This model of Dash Cam comes with F/1.8 large aperture lens and Sony 1/1.8 inch large target surface STARVIS2 image sensor, and its low light imaging capability is one of the leaders in the Dash Cam industry.
Complemented by the night driving and night parking security scenes specifically optimized imaging parameters, it can get outstanding image quality in the night without streetlights, low light parking spaces on the ground, underground garages and other dim scenes, which guarantees the effect of image algorithm analysis and forensics shooting.
The above 'low light' includes the following types of light sources:
- Fixed light sources on the road other than municipal streetlights, typically such as lights coming from roadside store signs and building windows on both sides of the road;
- Natural light sources at night, i.e., moonlight and starlight on clear nights;
- Mobile road light sources, typically such as the lights of vehicles on the next lane, the torch light held by passers-by.
In areas outside the range of municipal street lighting, with the help of the above low light sources, starlight night vision level Dash Cam can form a better night imaging, while the normal Dash Cam shot of such areas is too dark to see the details.
This is significant for improvement of the image quality of driving records and parking security at night in suburban and rural roads/parking spots.
This is caused by the interference on Wi-Fi signal of the Dash Cam. You can download the video to the local album of mobile APP to view to avoid this lagging problem.
Note: It is recommended to set the video recording length to 1 minute (the original segment length of the video file), which can be downloaded faster.
This is because the video uses high compression encoding, if the phone does not support H.265 (HEVC) decoding well, this problem will occur.
It can be played without problems by changing to a newer phone, such as using an entry Android phone launched in 2018 or a more powerful Android device, an iPhone 7 or a newer iOS device.
If you do not intend to replace the phone for the time being, you can set the video encoding format to 'low compression' in the Dash Cam settings interface on the phone, so that the subsequent recorded video can be played back normally by the old phone.
Video/photo and other image files are stored in the '70mai' album of the phone album after downloading. You can access and manage these files in the phone album or local album of 70mai APP.
The speed/latitude/longitude watermark and the brand logo watermark on the Dash Cam screen can be turned off separately, and the switch is in the Dash Cam settings of the phone.
The date and time watermark cannot be turned off.
This is because the GPS search and positioning is not yet successful, please wait patiently.
Note:
1. If the metal film is attached to the front windshield, it will block the GPS signal to the vehicle cabin.
2. After equipping the Dash Cam with a 4G parking surveillance cable and enabling its 4G networking capability, the Dash Cam will automatically turn on the A-GPS function, thus greatly improving the speed and accuracy of GPS star search and positioning. (4G will be supported in October 2023)
The vehicle uses cigarette lighter Parking surveillance, time-lapse photography and motion detection are the corresponding working modes of this model of Dash Cam for different parking security scenarios. The Dash Cam supports the following functions alone or all enabled after detecting the vehicle flameout, to guard your vehicle in all aspects:
1. Collision detection: The Dash Cam will be in standby mode without recording after flameout, but when the built-in gravity sensor (G-sensor) detects abnormal vibration of the vehicle (usually the vehicle is collided), it triggers the recording of a 30-second-long parking surveillance video, and stores it in the parking surveillance video folder of the device album.
2. Motion detection: The Dash Cam will be in standby mode without recording when flameout. When the image algorithm running continuously on the Dash Cam detects a threatening scene to the vehicle and determines that the threat level has reached the level that needs to be recorded, it will trigger the recording of a 30-second-long parking surveillance video and store it in the parking surveillance video folder of the device album.
3. Time-lapse photography: When this function is turned on, the Dash Cam continuously shoots frames at a sampling rate of one frame per second (when the video recording frame rate is set to 30 fps) or one frame every 500 milliseconds (when the video recording frame rate is set to 60 fps) when the after flameout, and then combines them into a 30 fps or 60 fps video file, i.e. time-lapse photography video, and stores it in the time-lapse photography video folder of the device album. Time-lapse photography can continuously record the situation in the field of view of the Dash Cam, and playback the video at a speed equivalent to thirty times the real-world time flow, in case there is an abnormal event, it can well record the entire cause and effect as proof of evidence.
Note: If you installed the optional 4G parking surveillance cable for the Dash Cam, then the parking surveillance events triggered by collision detection or motion detection will be instantly sent to your phone via alarm message push to remind you to pay attention to the abnormal situation of your vehicle in time.
This is because the Dash Cam does not detect the parking surveillance cable. In this case, please start troubleshooting with the following:
1. Check whether the parking surveillance cable of the Dash Cam is correctly installed? If you do not have installation experience and firsthand ability, it is recommended to ask a professional to install it at an auto repair and maintenance store;for minority car models, it is recommended to contact 4S store first to get the vehicle fuse box circuit definition information for installation reference.
2. Check whether the parking surveillance cable has poor contact with the fuse box or with the Dash Cam.
The parking surveillance cable is an accessory used by the car Dash Cam in the parking security scenario and plays the following role:
- The cable takes electricity from the vehicle's battery to maintain a constant power supply to the Dash Cam when the vehicle is shut down, supporting the normal operation of parking surveillance, remote surveillance and other functions;
- When the vehicle battery voltage drops to a preset threshold, the power supply to the Dash Cam/4G module will be cut off to prevent low battery power, leading to the failure to start the vehicle. This model of Dash Cam only supports parking surveillance cable of 70mai brand.
You can choose the following models of 70mai parking surveillance cable to use with this model of Dash Cam:
1. 70mai 4G parking surveillance cable. In addition to supporting the parking surveillance function of the Dash Cam, it also enables the Dash Cam to obtain 4G network connection capability, thus enabling 4G network connection related functions, including instant push alarm message notification and video clips to your mobile APP when the Dash Cam triggers recorded parking surveillance video. As a parking surveillance cable accessory, this model supports three voltage protection threshold settings for low battery protection for cars (see specific Q&A below).
2. 70mai parking surveillance cable (USB Type-C power supply connector). This model does not support 4G network connection, if you choose this model, the Dash Cam will not be able to instantly notify you when the recorded parking surveillance video is triggered, but only remind you to use your mobile phone to access the Dash Cam to view the parking surveillance video recordings in the device album when you start the vehicle next time.
4G parking surveillance cable supports to choose three grades for setting the voltage threshold of vehicle battery protection:
• Low - 11.8/23.6 V
• Medium - 12.0/24.0 V
• High - 12.2/24.4 V
Note: The 12V battery trolley supports three-grade setting of 11.8/12.0/12.2V, and the 24V battery trolley supports three-grade setting of 23.6/24.0/24.4V.
You can choose the right battery protection voltage threshold by gradually turning down the grade according to the actual situation such as the capacity and newness of your vehicle battery, to get the longest parking surveillance usage time under the premise of protecting the battery.
Usually for new batteries (less than 2 years old) and large capacity batteries that support start/stop, you can select 'Low - 11.8/23.6 V' to get a longer usage time for parking surveillance (in a typical vehicle with a new start/stop battery installed, collision detection, parking surveillance, and time-lapse photography are all on, and the usage time is measured to be more than 5 days).
If you are not quite sure of the minimum battery voltage required to start your vehicle's engine, just keep the default 'Medium - 12.0/24.0 V' grade. If the battery is seriously aged or the vehicle requires high starting voltage (for example, vehicles with engines with a high number of cylinders such as V6, L6, V8, V12, W12, etc.), battery voltage dropped to 11.8 V may cause failure to start the engine.
This is a result of incorrect wiring of the parking surveillance cable on the vehicle fuse box. This may lead to the failure of the Dash Cam to properly enter the parking surveillance mode after the vehicle flameout. For this situation, it is recommended to consult a 4S store or professional repair store to clarify the wiring method for the constant power supply after flameout of your vehicle.
Note: non-professional changes to the car circuit may lead to battery failure or even vehicle self-ignition and other serious consequences, please be sure to address the parking surveillance cable installation wiring with the help of professional institutions.
The causes of this problem may be the following,
1. The Dash Cam does not turn on the function of collision detection triggering parking surveillance video.
2. In the Dash Cam settings, the collision detection trigger parking surveillance sensitivity setting is too low, you can try to set a higher sensitivity (for the vehicle with good chassis damping effect, it is recommended to set a high sensitivity).
3. In hot weather, the vehicle cabin temperature is too high, the Dash Cam automatically shuts down to protect the device, it will not be able to respond to the collision event to trigger the parking surveillance video after shutdown. You can apply heat insulation film to the windshield to solve this problem, and try to avoid parking the vehicle in direct sunlight for a long time in the hot season.
4. Low vehicle battery power triggers the battery protection function of the parking surveillance cable, and the power is cut off by the Dash Cam. For this situation, please choose the appropriate battery protection voltage threshold grade according to the condition of your own vehicle battery. If the battery is used for a long time and has been aging, please replace the new battery in time. In addition, the frequent start of the vehicle in a short period of time (such as a number of consecutive short-distance driving) will lead to insufficient battery storage, resulting in the battery protection function of the parking surveillance cable triggered soon after the vehicle flameout; in this case, you can start the vehicle to drive/idle for more than 30 minutes to fully charge the battery, and then turn off the vehicle to continue to use the parking surveillance.
5. This is a result of incorrect wiring of the parking surveillance cable on the vehicle fuse box. This can cause the Dash Cam to be shut down when the power supply to the Dash Cam is cut off some time after the vehicle flameout. For this situation, it is recommended to consult a 4S store or professional repair store to clarify the wiring method for the constant power supply after flameout of your vehicle. (Note: non-professional changes to the car circuit may lead to battery failure or even vehicle self-ignition and other serious consequences, please be sure to address the parking surveillance cable installation wiring with the help of professional institutions.)
6. Please note that even if the Dash Cam is set up with the highest collision detection sensitivity, for some types of collisions, such as courier drivers riding electric bikes passing by, the cargo box rubs against the parked vehicle at low speed, it is possible that the parking surveillance video will not be triggered. Gravitational acceleration sensors are more sensitive to vibrations caused by heavy objects; if a passing pedestrian or non-motorized vehicle causes damage to a parked vehicle, there is a probability that a relatively light action will not trigger the parking surveillance recording.
(Note: Actual testing of a certain SUV model with comfort as a selling point parked on a concrete-hardened surface, with the highest collision detection sensitivity setting, someone pressed a cigarette butt hard on the tire triggered the parking surveillance video.)
Motion detection supports three sensitivity settings of high/medium/low.
The difference between each sensitivity grade is in the collision recognition judgment, the higher the sensitivity setting, the lower the threshold value for determining collision.
Either of the following methods can be taken to solve the problem,
1. Reduce the sensitivity setting for collision detection to trigger parking surveillance.
2. In the collision response policy of parking surveillance, set it to delay 5 minutes before responding.
If you have turned on the motion detection function in the Dash Cam settings (Note: The Dash Cam will detect the parking surveillance cable and will recommend turning on this function by default in the beginner's guide step).
When the vehicle shuts down and enters the parking surveillance, the Dash Cam will continue to shoot, and the built-in AI algorithm will continue to analyze the scene in the field of view.
If the algorithm determines that the threat level to the vehicle from a moving object in the scene has reached a level that requires recording, the Dash Cam will be instructed to begin recording a 30-second parking surveillance video to be stored in the built-in parking surveillance folder in the Dash Cam.
In this type of scenario, usually an object is moving continuously in close range in the field of view of the Dash Cam.
Note: The initial motion detection algorithm can only recognize human-shaped objects, and subsequent upgrades will add recognition of all types of vehicles (including non-motorized vehicles).
Motion detection supports three sensitivity settings of high/medium/low.
The difference between sensitivity grades lies in the recognition judgment of 'suspicious scene'.
The higher the sensitivity setting, the more lenient the AI algorithm is in screening the appearance of suspicious objects and the lower the requirement for the duration of objects in the field of view.
Note: For the image recognition AI algorithm, the judgment of suspicious scene is a comprehensive logic derived from training. Therefore, the algorithm parameters such as the duration of suspicious objects staying in the field of view are not fixed values and therefore cannot be set by the user.
This is because the scene in the Dash Cam's field of view is not determined as a sufficient threatening scene to require video recording by the AI imaging algorithm. The specific reasons could be,
- Cause 1: The duration of time the person remains in the field of view of the Dash Cam is too short (under the default sensitivity setting in motion detection, it needs to remain in the field of view for more than 20 seconds to trigger the parking surveillance video).
- Cause 2: Human imaging does not meet the requirements of AI algorithm for human recognition.
Main scenario:
• The person is obscured, which affects the detection effect of the imaging algorithm. For example, when the person is too close to the vehicle and only the part above the abdomen appears in the field of view of the Dash Cam, it is easy to be ignored by the algorithm and lead to missing recognition.
(Note: 70mai is continuously improving the recognition capability of AI imaging algorithm, and will subsequently strengthen the recognition of obscured human shapes and increase the recognition of various types of vehicles.)
• The person is too far away from the Dash Cam (more than five meters), and the image of the person is too small, which will be judged as low threat and thus will not trigger the parking surveillance video.
• Environmental factors, when shooting outward from inside the car, the field of view light situation is complicated, there are occlusions and reflections, such as too dark light or windshield reflections, which can interfere with the recognition algorithm.- Judgment of the method of motion detection function (depending on the specific vehicle model, installation angle, the actual performance parameters will vary: the difference range in distance is no more than one meter, and the difference range in retention time is no more than 5 seconds),
• High sensitivity: about 2-3 meters from the front of the car, stay for about 8 seconds, will trigger the motion detection
• Medium sensitivity: about 2-3 meters from the front of the car, stay for about 10 seconds, will trigger the motion detection
• Low sensitivity: about 2-3 meters from the front of the car, stay for about 17 seconds, will trigger the motion detection
No, it will not. Unlike the frame comparison principle based motion detection that is commonly used in the industry, the built-in imaging algorithm of this Dash Cam model will make intelligent judgments about the scene in the field of view, and the recording of parking surveillance video will only be truly triggered if the threat level of the scene is large enough as determined by the algorithm; this can greatly reduce the number of useless activity scenes triggering the recording of parking surveillance video, making the motion detection function truly practical in densely populated areas.
For example, in general, scenes with vehicles/people coming and going are not judged as threatening by the algorithm, but only when specific suspicious objects stay in view long enough and close enough to the vehicle.
The algorithm determines the threat level of the scene intelligently, not according to a fixed preset length of stay or distance.
In addition, if the same moving object stays in the field of view for a long time, at most two consecutive parking surveillance video recording events will be triggered, and the Dash Cam will then actively ignore the object to avoid repeated recording of parking surveillance video with very low or no value.
The possible reasons are as follows,
1. Low vehicle battery power triggers the battery protection function of the parking surveillance cable, and the power is cut off by the Dash Cam. For this situation, you can start the vehicle to drive / idle for more than thirty to fully charge the battery, and then turn off the engine to continue to use time-lapse photography; if the battery is aging, please replace the new battery in a timely manner.
(Note: For vehicles installed with start/stop battery, the fully charged new battery can support this model of Dash Cam to record about one week of time-lapse photography video.)
2. The Dash Cam automatically shuts down to protect the device due to high temperature. For this situation, you can apply heat insulation film to the car glass and try to avoid parking the vehicle in direct sunlight for a long time in the hot season.
3. The Dash Cam triggers the recording of parking surveillance video, or the user controls the Dash Cam to record video remotely via 4G, which will cause interruption of time-lapse photography, once the recording is completed, time-lapse photography will continue and stored as a new clip. (4G will be supported in October 2023.)
If you equip the Dash Cam with 4G parking and parking surveillance cable, and the device is properly networked, when the vehicle is shut down, you can enter the 'Remote Settings' page on the 'Remote Surveillance' page of the mobile APP to switch the on/off status of the collision detection parking surveillance/time-lapse photography functions.
Note: You can click the 'Effective immediately' button to switch the on/off status of these functions immediately; you can also exit the 'Remote Setting' page directly after switching on/off, and then when your mobile phone exits the 'Remote surveillance' page for 5 minutes, the on/off status of these functions will be switched automatically according to your settings.
This is because the lane line of the road section the vehicle is driving on is not clear, or the lens angle is not appropriate.
Please follow the steps below to eliminate the problem and re-calibrate,
1. Check whether the lens of the Dash Cam has been calibrated in accordance with the calibration process (Note: Turn off ADAS in the Dash Cam setting module at the APP end and then turn it on again, you can enter the lens calibration process again);
2. Ensure that the vehicle is driving at a speed greater than 40 km/h and on a road with clear lane lines;
3. Keep the lens clear of stains, dust and obstructions;
4. Restart the Dash Cam for recalibration (Note: available restart operations include unplugging the USB power cable from the Dash Cam body and plugging it back in; or long press the power button to turn it off, then click the power button to turn it back on).
Once ADAS function is turned on, all broadcast types will be turned on by default.
If you think the ADAS broadcast is too frequent and affects driving, please turn off the unnecessary broadcast types according to your actual needs by entering the ADAS setting page in the Dash Cam settings module of mobile APP.
Note: There is no concept of 'sensitivity' for specific ADAS broadcast items, such as front vehicle start reminder, and the triggering of these broadcasts is automatically judged by the algorithm according to the road scene.
Thanks to the improvement of both the image quality and ADAS algorithm of the Dash Cam, it is normal that the performance of the ADAS function of this model will be more active on some road scenes than on the earlier model of 70mai Dash Cam.
The possible reasons are as follows,
1. Rain and snow and other weather conditions: In bad weather conditions, for example, rain, snow, haze and other weather, the camera may not be able to properly photograph the vehicle in front, resulting in delayed or non-reporting of the warning.
2. Camera direction misalignment: camera direction misalignment may lead to incorrect identification of the vehicle ahead and failure to send a timely warning on the vehicle ahead;
3. Slow speed of the vehicle ahead: when the vehicle is too slow, the system may not consider it a hazardous situation, resulting in no warning being sent;
4. Driving habits: some drivers may turn off the ADAS warning function, please check if the function is on properly and if calibration has been completed.
For the case that the warning is delayed or not reported, it is recommended to check: whether the Dash Cam camera is clean, whether it is installed in the correct direction, whether ADAS is turned on, broadcasted accordingly and calibration has been completed.
This model of Dash Cam has a built-in satellite positioning module, which can obtain the current location information of the vehicle in real time, thereby it can support the following functions,
1. The speed, latitude and longitude information watermark are combined on the video screen as a reference for evidence recording. This information can also be displayed in RS visual effects subsequently. In addition, the altitude and elevation data in RS visual effects also come from the satellite positioning module.
2. The Dash Cam can record the whole location positioning information of your vehicle for each trip, and summarize it into a driving route, which can be used as a reference for the vehicle's historical trip statistics.
3. You can check the location of your vehicle in the mobile app, which can help you find your parked vehicle or locate the recent location of your vehicle in case of theft and robbery. (Note: The vehicle location function requires the support of 4G parking surveillance cable. After the vehicle is started, you can enable 'Tracking Mode' on the 'Vehicle Location' page of the mobile APP, so that the update frequency of vehicle location can be increased to once every 15 seconds.)
4. You can set the electronic fence in the mobile APP, and you can receive the alarm message in the mobile APP after the vehicle leaves the electronic fence (Note: the electronic fence function needs the support of 4G parking surveillance cable).
5. ADAS function requires real-time information of vehicle speed to work properly, which is also provided by GPS module.
The most possible reason is that the vehicle is parked in areas without satellite positioning signal, e.g., underground garage, indoor parking area, under the elevated area, dense high-rise buildings, etc. In this case, the parking position shown on the APP terminal is the last successful position of the Dash Cam before the vehicle flameout (usually it is near the entrance of the parking area, if there is an elevated bridge, tunnel culvert section or dense high-rise buildings near the entrance of the parking area, it could shift further. (This function requires the support of 4G parking surveillance cable, which will be available in October 2023.)
Possible reasons are
,1. High-grade heat insulation film containing metal is attached to the vehicle glass, which will block the GPS signal and cause the GPS device in the cabin to work improperly. You may consider installing a GPS signal amplifier to solve this problem.
2. When the vehicle drives through the road sections with serious GPS blockage such as tunnels, under bridges and high-rise buildings, it will lead to slow or even unable to locate the GPS, and after driving away from these road sections, the GPS can resume normal.
In the case of not installing 4G parking surveillance cable, the Dash Cam will record the driving route data in the built-in storage at the device end, which is called offline driving route data and can be synchronized to the mobile phone APP for viewing in the Dash Cam settings.
After installing 4G parking surveillance cable, the Dash Cam will no longer record the offline driving route data at the device end, instead, it will upload the vehicle position information to the 70mai service end through 4G network, and the service end will summarize it into the driving route record, this driving route record can also be viewed at the mobile phone APP, and the offline driving route is exactly the same in appearance, this is called online driving route.
If the Dash Cam detects the 4G parking surveillance cable, it will stop recording the offline driving route and try to generate the online driving route. If you have installed a 4G parking surveillance cable for the Dash Cam and need to use the driving route function, please make sure that when the 4G data traffic package expires or when the traffic in the package is exhausted, top up in time to ensure that the Dash Cam 4G network is normal.
This model of Dash Cam is designed to consider this situation in advance, and it is unlikely to have the problem of not being able to boot up due to the external power disconnection during the OTA process. If the power of the Dash Cam is accidentally cut off or the OTA upgrade package is damaged during the upgrade process, it will lead to the Dash Cam crashing, in this case, connect the external power supply and press and hold the power button for 15 seconds to force restart the Dash Cam, then you can try to push the OTA upgrade package again and re-upgrade.
Attention! If the built-in battery of the Dash Cam is seriously aging after several years of use, then the unexpected power failure of the Dash Cam during the upgrade process will cause failure to turn on the Dash Cam. In case of this problem, it can only be returned to the factory for repair, there is no convenient repair method available to the user.
This model of Dash Cam will subsequently support the compatible 4G module (4G parking surveillance cable), and may need to OTA upgrade the firmware to solve the known software issues.
You do not need to pay special attention to the firmware upgrade of the 4G module, in the process of OTA firmware upgrade of the Dash Cam unit, the firmware version of the 4G module will be detected whether it is the latest, if not, the firmware upgrade of the 4G module will be automatically executed immediately after the completion of the firmware upgrade of the Dash Cam unit and reboot.
Attention! In the 4G module firmware upgrade process, when the 4G module indicator shows a blue constant light state, DO NOT shut down the vehicle currently, or disconnect the Dash Cam unit and the 4G module! Otherwise, the 4G module may be permanently damaged!
This model of device supports 4K images, which requires high transmission speed of memory card, please use U3 or above level memory card (recommended to use 70mai official card, high-end card from Longsys or Samsung, SanDisk, Kingston).
For 1-minute ordinary video using 265 encoding (high compression), 3840X2160 resolution, HDR enabled, 32G memory card, it is about 1.5 for dual recording of front and rear; and about 2 hours for front only recording. It then starts cyclic erase the earliest video (This is related to the details of specific road scenes,
if there is a lot of tree crown and other detailed scenery, the video file size will be slightly larger than the general road). If more storage is required, 64/128 GB memory cards can be purchased, and the available continuous recording time will be doubled compared to 32 GB memory cards, in accordance with the nominal capacity.
This Dash Cam can support 32GB~256GB memory card, it is recommended to use U3 or above level memory card ( 70mai official card, high-end card from Longsys or Samsung, SanDisk, Kingston is recommended).
There are two methods as follows,
1. In the shutdown state, use a USB 3.0 or faster protocol compatible cable to connect the Dash Cam to the computer (mainstream versions of Windows/Mac/Linux computer systems are supported), after the Dash Cam is turned on, a removable memory disk drive will appear on the computer, and you can then copy the desired video or photo to the computer.
2. Take the memory card out of the Dash Cam and insert it into the computer using a card reader for viewing.
Please operate using a cable with data transfer function. The cable equipped with the Dash Cam is a power cable, which has no data transfer function.
Possible reasons are,
1. In hot weather, in direct sunlight to the Dash Cam area, the heat generated by the work of the car Dash Cam dissipates slowly, the accumulation of heat will lead to an increase in body temperature, which will affect the memory card slot.
2. Memory cards work continuously in the state of reading and writing on the Dash Cam, will also generate heat.
Regarding the memory card heating phenomenon, please note that:
1. Memory card heating will be more serious if the quality of the memory card is poor and the reading and writing speed is slow. Therefore, please choose a high-quality memory card with the required speed grade when buying Dash Cam.
2. Memory card heating is normal, but the long-term overheating of the memory card may affect its read and write speed and service life; therefore, please try to avoid using the Dash Cam in high-temperature environment, and regularly replace the memory card to ensure that the Dash Cam evidence taking work continues to be reliable.
Depending on the different memory card exceptions, the corresponding processing methods are,
- Low storage. The memory card size supported by this device is 32G-256 GB, please check the memory card capacity size.
- Low grade memory card. This device is a 4K Dash Cam, video data generated by the recording is very large, requiring high read and write speed of the memory card, please use U3 or above grade memory card; read and write efficiency will also be affected if the memory card is used for too long, please replace the memory card in time to ensure the normal operation of the device.
- The memory card needs to be formatted. Files are detected on the memory card that were not generated by the Dash Cam, or if a memory card is inserted into the Dash Cam for the first time for use, you will need to format the memory card first.
- Memory card damaged. This condition indicates that the memory card has run out of life. Please replace the card with a new one soon, otherwise the Dash Cam will not work properly.
There is a speaker volume level option in the Dash Cam settings, you can set high/medium/low and off, please select the appropriate setting level accordingly.
Possible reasons are,
1. The phone Bluetooth is not turned on. Try to turn on the phone Bluetooth, and quit the APP and open it again.
2. Automatic Bluetooth pairing failed due to interference and other reasons. In this case, you can quit the APP and reopen it, and then try to connect to the Dash Cam directly; or go to the wireless LAN connection interface of the phone system to connect to the Dash Cam hotspot manually.
This is because of the restriction of the application API by Google play, which cannot obtain the corresponding data interface directly normally, therefore the function is not available on Android system.
RS visual effects is visual effects feature available on the high-end models of 70mai vehicle Dash Cam.
When playing back normal and emergency video footage in the app, with RS visual effects on, the APP will superimpose a technological visual effect on the screen to show information such as vehicle speed, direction of travel, elevation, lane description, distance to the front car, etc.
RS visual effects can help you visually recall your driving experience, recall your skills with a racing game-like perspective and view, or more carefully analyze the cause of the accident.
You can share RS visual effects to show off your outstanding driving skills in the following ways,
Download the video clip you want to share from the Dash Cam to the APP local album, then go to the APP local album to play back the video clip and select 'combine RS visual effects', the APP will combine RS visual effects to the video frame and save it as a copy of the video clip. You can find the video clips with RS effects generated by APP in the above way in the system album of your phone, and share them to any social media or send them to your contacts.
The process of 'combine RS visual effects' is to superimpose the graphic effects of RS visual effects to video frames and encode them into video files.
This requires calling the computing power of the phone hardware to re-encode the video clips, which is a high-load task for the performance of mainstream phones, so it will take longer (the better the phone performance, the shorter the time to combine RS visual effects for the same length of video clips).
If the phone runs another task while executing the encoding task, it may cause the encoding task to terminate unexpectedly and even cause the APP to crash, so this process is not allowed to switch to background execution.
The vehicle distance value is calculated by the ADAS function from the images taken by the Dash Cam, which will be more accurate on clear marked typical road scenarios, but less accurate on unmarked non-standard roads or in wild areas.
This is because the ADAS function is not enabled on the Dash Cam, these elements are presented based on the ADAS recognition results.
After the ADAS function is turned on and its calibration is successful, the lane line, distance and pedestrian warning signs will appear on the RS visual effects of the subsequent recorded video.
The high-temperature shutdown refers to the protective mechanism designed to mitigate potential risks by preventing internal temperatures from becoming excessively high.
Its root cause is A810's continuous operation of time-lapse photography or motion detection under parking surveillance mode.
To strike a balance between A810's compact design and its powerful 4K+1080P dual-recording performance, we haven't wasted any of its processing power, which may results in A810 getting hot when running at full capacity.
All of our dash cams have passed rigorous safety tests, providing multiple safeguards.
A. A810 is certificated by CE and FCC, ensuring its safety and reliability under all circumstances.
B. A810's actual testing and operating temperatures exceed the claimed values, but a slight deviation beyond the recommended working temperature range will not have any adverse effects.
C. A810's high-temperature protection mechanism enables the device to extend its operating time as much as possible in high-temperature environments while ensuring the safety of both the device and the vehicle.
The application of the supercapacitor is the combined use of button batteries and the supercapacitors. The supercapacitor itself can store very little power.
It will shut down immediately after power cut, risking the possibility that critical footages cannot finish recording in extreme conditions. The application of the lithium battery is using lithium batteries as a backup power source.
Even when the power is cut off, the dash cam will still be able to finish recording the emergency video. The drawback is that lithium batteries do not discharge well under extremely high or low temperatures.
We believe that the priority of the dash cam is capturing footage even in extreme conditions, so we chose the lithium battery solution and equipped it with precise safety protection logic.
However, based on extensive user feedback, 70mai will explore the supercapacitor solution in future products.
In hot weather, if the vehicle is parked in direct sunlight, prolonged exposure to sunlight can cause the cabin environment temperature of the vehicle to be too high, resulting in a rapid increase in the temperature of the recorder;
In this case, the recorder will automatically shut down under high temperature protection to extend the service life of the device.
